More tiles, more plaster, stairs, glass and a courtyard!

The courtyard looks neat and tidy

Before the concrete
Concrete arriving in the courtyard

The courtyard has always been a tipping ground for rouble and discarded building materials. Andrea has a clear vision of a beautiful courtyard with plants and a water feature but this has taken a lot of imagination. The first stage was to remove the rubbish and level up the rouble. Next the concrete arrived and suddenly it was transformed. Still a way to go before it is the calm peaceful courtyard of Andrea’s vision but a big step in the right direction. It also means that the team don’t risk breaking limbs as they walk across it!

The plasterers have continued to work through the house. It is an amazing transformation even if they do leave chaos behind. They should be finished by Christmas and El Cipreret will really start to feel like a house. It takes a couple of weeks to dry but then we can start painting, we are starting to realise just how much there is to do!

The tilers have been working their magic. This is the Saffron suite bathroom. The Peronda tiles look fantastic. The weird bright triangle is just the sunshine!

To our surprise the glass for the windows arrived two weeks early, yes really. These will transform the house as it stops the wind blowing through which makes it cold when you are painting inside and more importantly it is a key step to making the house secure. The unloading was done very carefully…..

For some time now we have not been able to access the top two guest bedrooms. Access will be from the outside landing and until recently there were gaps in the internal walls allowing access but these were blocked up. We were driving to the house one morning and came up behind a slow lorry. When this happens the lorry is normally on its way to our house, there is no much else around. When we spotted the stairs on the back we were very excited.  It was very dramatic watching them lifted into place and then after a few bolts and welds the first steps up to the top!
