The concrete flows and we build a wall.

The cement trucks arrive

So we are now 10 weeks into the build and a lot has happened. The demolition has taken up most of the time as the rocks under the house have proved to be hard to shift. Ironic, given that there was a suggestion that we needed to dig foundations and add extra concrete….. We do have some great pictures of diggers parked where rooms will be. They will make great before and after shots.

We started to build a garden wall. We convinced the builders to show us what to do (in Spanish) and we got going. We’ve now done about 10 metres which is a third of the total and it still standing, upright and flat on the top. We are very proud.

However, the real excitement was the start of construction. All of a sudden building materials, rocks, steel grids, floor spacers, waste pipes, started to arrive on site. Next the builders spread rocks across the floor and the plumbers setup the waste pipes. Then the concrete mixers arrived and we had the best day yet. We now have the first layer throughout the ground floor and the second floor of the main house – no stairs though….
